I know… I have been MIA for a month! WHAT?? I took a break after some health issues got me down in more ways than one. Thankfully my condition is improved (hello 16 lbs of weight loss!) and I am feeling more myself than I have in some time.
So we are back to our weekly new release blogs and of course I am late! (I said I was more myself than ever right haha)
I know a lot of people really liked the weekly minimum spend freebies in February. Don’t worry! They are not going away forever, but I would like them to be ‘special’ so we will still have one or two each month – just not every single week.
Also, in case you were not already aware, I’ve merged a side project I was working on with Faery Ink. I know a lot of you associate Faery Ink with rainbows, smiles and all things happy and sweet but I really like creepy cute stuff too. So I will be adding a new creepy cute image each month for folks like me who love the sweet and creepy too. I really hope no one is offended by these creepy little darlings. If you are feint of heart, just pay attention to the title as I will be sure to indicate Creepy Cutie of the Month there and you can just skip it! =)
And one last thing… I am doing a themed Ophelia each month. The theme right now is “Wonderland” so we had Mad Hatter Ophelia last month, this month we are having Ophelia as Caterpillar and each month will be a new Wonderland themed Ophelia until we move onto our next theme. For those of you who love a little Burtonesque elegance in your images I think you will love the Ophelias and what I have planned with them.
This week our new releases are both fae because if you don’t believe faeries exist than we simply won’t believe you exist ;)
Tips, Tricks & Color Palettes
TIP: If you know my stuff at all you know I love some bold, vibrant colors. However, it’s important to try all sorts of things with your artsy craftsy stuff so I spent a lot of time in February playing with more subdued colors. Admittedly, my green pops a little vibrantly against those subtle browns but it’s all good! So my tip from this one: try something new! Get out of your comfort zone. Don’t be scared! If it doesn’t work – oh well – you’ve learned something new anyway and it’s not like you have to show anyone.
TIP: Be colorful =) Don’t let colors frighten you. They are everywhere after all. In her apron I have used V000, V12, RV21 and W0 to create the shadows. White is super reflective so it’s totally okay and absolutely awesome to use colors from the environment to create shadows for white objects.
Make sure you are subbed to the Faery Ink YouTube channel so you can see me color this with Copics!
