Mandalas, everywhere mandalas!
To be fair, I have to give credit to my friend Kimi of Kimicatt’s Kreations for turning me on to just how easy it is to make mandalas (and relaxing, and hypnotic, and addictive!). She shared this video on her Facebook and I kinda went crazy from there…
This was my first mandala… All I could see were the mistakes. It was almost enough to take the fun out of it for me, but not quite.
I thought I would wander through Youtube a little more, checking out all the different ways people made their mandalas and came across a few using watercolor pencils. I thought I would give that a shot and came up with my favorite mandala yet.
It was all I could do to go to bed last night without making five hundred mandalas beforehand… And my poor, poor math teacher. I always doodle in this math class because it’s pretty easy stuff. But usually, I try to participate a little bit. Sometimes I ask questions I already know the answer to because I can tell by the looks on some of my classmate’s faces that they are not getting it. Today, I “mandala-ed” instead. I mandala-ed all over the lined sheet of paper I was supposed to be taking notes on. I mandala-ed in pen, I scribbled over mandalas, I made curly ones and even a Christmas mandala. I wanted to mandala on the whiteboard before my teacher came in but thank goodness I was able to contain myself!
So far, it doesn’t seem to be interfering too much with my ability to function in life. ;)
I wonder if there is an actual verb to describe creating mandalas? Do you like to make mandalas? You should definitely check out the video above and give it a go. I promise you, it is fun! It is also very relaxing once you let go of the need to be perfect. Little mistakes are easily hidden as you add more and more layers. Give it a go my friend. I would love to see what you make =)
Also!!! Don’t forget to enter to win free original art over on Faery Ink’s Facebook page!! The contest ends tonight at 11:59 PM EST. Have a great weekend guys =)
